2019 Event Moderator – Darrell Amberson has been an attendee of the MSO Symposium since its inception in 2012 and has served on the Automotive Service Association’s board of directors for 12 years. He has over 40 years of experience in the auto repair industry and has been involved in collision industry events and served in a number of volunteer roles, including a number of advisory councils and committees. He is the recipient of the ASA Phoenix Award, the ABRN Leadership Award, the Russ Verona Scholarship, and was inducted in the Hall of Eagles in 2009. He is currently President of Operations at LaMettry’s Collision.
Vincent Romans is the founding principal and managing partner of The Romans Group LLC established in 1996 leveraging four decades of business operator and consulting experience with domestic and global enterprises. The Romans Group provides business, market, financial and strategic development advisory services to the collision repair, property and casualty auto insurance, and the auto physical damage aftermarket ecosystem.
He is a frequent speaker, moderator, panelist and writer on the dynamic and evolving marketplace and industry trends impacting the collision repair, property and casualty auto insurance, and numerous other adjacent segments involving the auto physical damage supply chain. Through his thought leadership and as a change agent, catalyst and facilitator of concepts and ideas, he drives the development, introduction, understanding and acceptance of new innovative and disruptive business models.
His broad base specific market experience, SME, has assisted domestic and international private equity, investment banking firms, and strategic buyers in their research, evaluation and acquisition of target assets. He has participated in developing company, market, industry and competitive due diligence knowledge and intelligence involving most segments within the auto physical damage and P & C insurance marketplace.
Vincent holds a BS degree in Management from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Temple University.
Susanna Gotsch is Director, Industry Analyst at CCC Information Services Inc. She has been with CCC since July of 1992. Susanna brings twenty-plus years of experience within the automotive claims industry as Director, Industry Analyst.
She has authored The Crash Course, CCC’s annual publication on trends impacting collision repair and total loss costs since 1995. This publication has become a key resource for the industry in understanding how broader trends within the economy, new and used vehicle market places, and collision industry are impacting auto claim frequency and costs. Ms. Gotsch also consults with the on-going development of CCC’s industry-leading data warehouse and reporting products.
Ms. Gotsch has presented her research at numerous industry meetings and symposium. In 2011, Ms. Gotsch was awarded the annual industry honorarium Most Influential Women in the Collision Repair Industry established by AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings America (A&AC). She has also served on the Board for the Women?s Industry Network (WIN®) since 2011.
David Black is a seasoned collision industry executive with over 31 years of professional experience: fifteen years working for large public collision consolidators and privately-held operators, and the remaining sixteen years as an owner/operator of multiple collision repair facilities.
David joined #1 Cochran in April of 2015 as their Corporate Collision Director. He has been instrumental in driving #1 Cochran’s collision growth, expanding the business portfolio from four locations initially to 8 locations currently. David also played a critical role in supporting the successful conception and launch of the Body by Cochran collision sub-brand.
David is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.
David and his wife, Marcia, live in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, and have seven children and three grandchildren.
Gene Kozash works directly with 32 collision centers from California to Florida with sales exceeding 200 million. Since joining Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, he has directed businesses at facility levels including a startup and a million dollar per month location.
Gene joined Berkshire Hathaway Automotive 6 years ago as the Body Shop Director at Camelback Toyota in Phoenix, Arizona, and then on to Grapevine Ford Lincoln in Grapevine, Texas. Prior to that, he was the Body Shop Director with the Penske Auto Group in Warwick, Rhode Island, and also the Koon’s Auto Group in Manassas, Virginia. With his team, he has achieved several accomplishments over the years in record sales and growth, while earning both the Winner’s Circle Award and Shop of the Year Award at each location.
Since being promoted to his current role as Regional Director, Gene has had the opportunity to utilize his 31 years in the collision industry by leading, coaching, and inspiring his teammates to perform at their highest level in areas of sales, production, operations, and customer service. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge coupled with a unique style of energy and enthusiasm that he shares with his team and managers, all while encouraging them to perform individually each day both personally and professionally.
Gene is currently based in Dallas, Texas, where he lives with his wife Dona, son Gene, and daughter Brigette. As an avid runner, he enjoys running marathons throughout the country. He continues to bear a passion for the collision industry, leading with courage, clarity, and fearlessness each day.
Mr. Claudio is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Gerber Collision & Glass overseeing the Western United States. He joined the company in August of 2006 as District Manager for Washington and then in 2013 became the Regional Vice President overseeing the NW Region. Prior to joining Gerber, Mr. Claudio was with Caliber Collision as Vice President – Client Services and 20 years with Safeco Insurance as Director Physical Damage Claims. Mr. Claudio has a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy from California State University Northridge as well as the CPCU, AIC and AIM designations from The Insurance Institute.
A 29-year industry veteran, Marty Evans is a seasoned business development executive. He has an acute focus on direct automotive refinish and distribution sales and strategic account management across the Western U.S. and Canada. Proving a deep understanding of the Affiliate value channels since CCG’s inception, Marty joined the company in 2017 to lead the affiliate growth efforts. In February of 2019 he was promoted to COO and currently leads the operations for the rapidly expanding network. Marty is also a shop owner as a partner in 1st Class Auto Body in Bellingham, WA with two stores.
He is a graduate of Ashford University with a degree in International Business and now resides in Eagle, Idaho with his wife, three daughters, one son-in-law and a grandson.
Jason Verlen is Senior Vice President of Product Management for CCC Information Services Inc. He has extensive experience in the software industry with specific expertise in product management, big data, and analytics. Before joining CCC in May 2015 Jason spent five years at IBM where he was VP of Big Data Analytics. Prior to IBM, he was VP of Product Management for SPSS, a predictive analytics software company. Jason earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Mark T. Allen joined Audi of America as the Collision Programs and Work Shop Equipment Manager in August of 2011, responsible for the collision program, electric vehicle service strategy and workshop equipment for Audi.
Mark’s 41 year career in the automotive industry has spanned various areas including collision, insurance, parts, machinist and equipment. Mark holds and B.S. in Marketing/Management from Ramapo College of N.J. and is a long term member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, is DIN ISO Certified to weld aluminum, and is Executive Board Member of ICAR.
There is no one in collision repair who hasn’t heard of Mike Anderson. He is an acclaimed champion of everything that is, or could be right about the industry. As one of the most knowledgeable people in his field, he is a sought after speaker, author and consultant, who can discuss and teach on a wide range of topics relating to everything – from the politics affecting collision repair, to researching repairs properly via technology, to giving and getting the best from insurers, and to performing an exactly correct repair – just to name a few things! If there is anything Mike doesn’t know, he will find out about it.
Mike is the former owner of Wagonwork Collision Centers, two highly acclaimed shops located in Alexandria, Virginia. Currently, Mike owns and operates CollisionAdvice, an industry research, reference and consulting business. In addition, Mike also serves as a facilitator for Axalta’s highly recognized Business Council 20 Groups in both the US and Canada. He also facilitates numerous courses for the Axalta Performance Services Educational Series. Mike is home less than 20 days a year, preferring to spend his time traveling all over North America teaching, serving on advisory boards and committees, and generally living to support the industry.
Speaking with passion as well as firsthand experience, Mike teaches pertinent cutting edge management and operational techniques. But that’s not all; he is guaranteed to leave you laughing and highly motivated as well!
For more than 30 years, Clint Marlow has worked within the insurance industry. He started his career with Allstate Insurance in the New England region as an auto adjuster and after a succession of roles, and a promotion to Senior Manager at the company’s headquarters Clint and his family moved to Chicago. Clint has been at the center of many of Allstate’s auto damage claim handling strategies including Quick Foto Claim, Virtual Assist, and the GHRN program. His current focus at Allstate centers on forwarding looking research, digital innovation, key strategic projects, and strategic partnerships.
Clint is a named inventor on 9 different US patents with an additional 30 applications under review. Giving back to the collision repair industry is very important to Clint. He currently serves as the Immediate Past Chair to the CIECA organization (a nonprofit focused on data standards), is the Co – Chairman of the CIECA FNOL Committee, a National Auto Body Council board member, and Chairs the CIC Insurer / Repairer Relationship committee.
